These courses are delivered in-person and/or remotely. Students can apply for $100.00 of funding by clicking the application link at the bottom of this message. If you receive the funding, the $100.00 will be applied directly to the cost of one 30-hour Part-time Academic English Course offered in the Winter 2026 term. Once approved for the funding, students will be responsible for payment of the additional $50.00 of the ELC course fees above and beyond the $100.00 funding. Please note: The funding is only available for new course registrations and is not available as a refund for students that have already registered and paid for a course. Students already registered for a course are welcome to apply for the funding if interested in registering for an additional course in the Winter 2026 term. The Part-Time Academic English Courses are: • 30 hours in duration (unless otherwise indicated) • One 3-hour class per week for 10 weeks • 10-15 students per class provides a considerable amount of one-on-one interaction with your instructor and classmates • Synchronous and interactive (with modest amounts of asynchronous work) • Facilitated by highly experienced English for Academic Purposes instructors • Engaging: Meet other students and practice your English in a supportive environment! Sent on behalf of Mark Garrett Dear MPT1, We still require a member of your class to serve as class rep for the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba, our professional licensing body. This is a great opportunity for you to obtain leadership experience, get to know influential members of the profession in Manitoba, earn a nice line on your CV under leadership/service and a generous honorarium. The attached brochure explains the role a little more, and I am very ready to respond to any questions you may have. All you are required to do is attend monthly virtual meetings, listen to the current issues, and occasionally provide insights from the point of view of a first year student. You won't be alone - there will be an experienced 2nd year student at the meetings to help field any questions that may come your way. The application process is very simple - just email me your thoughts (not more than one page double spaced) on "What I can bring to the role of MPT student rep to CPM" by next Friday, October 24 at 6 pm. I know you are extremely busy, but I sincerely hope you can find 20 minutes to apply as we must fill the position. I was Chair of CPM for three years during the pandemic, so have a soft spot for this organization and am very happy to discuss any questions/concerns you may have regarding submitting an application. I am now calling for your applications for the position. Please read the attached brochure that explains the role (it's an opportunity for you to develop leadership skills and experience, participate in the governance of your profession and get to know a number of clinicians and administrators...and earn a line on your CV regarding evidence of leadership). Emma, the MPT2 rep, will be on the meetings so you will be in good company. I received several expressions of interest from class members in the first week, so have created a selection process.
