Hello Class of 2026,
Welcome to DH3 Radiology Rotation. We have a new RDA in Radiology, Elaine. She is a great asset to our clinic and has experience to share with you.
When you arrive in Radiology, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. Collect a mask from the darkroom/utility room.
The goal this year is to practice and perfect your technique of taking images. The best way to accomplish this is to let the dental students know that you want to place the sensor in the patient's mouth. Instead of saying that you are in Radiology to 'help' them, we have to change the words to 'take them.' Some students are great teachers and will guide you along. Some students will not want any 'help' from you and they will take their own images. Elaine and I are here to quide you, also. Remember that your class will graduate with Dent 4. You may be applying to one of these current students upon your graduation.
This year you will not be graded on the images that you take. However, you will have to record the number of images that you do take and document that for Kaleigh Warden.
I have been very proud of the past DH students for their abality to take excellent pan images. We will do these together when they are scheduled so you also become proficient.
Radiology can be a very busy clinic. We appreciate your help in cleaning the rooms and setting up. This year, we have a spray bottle and paper towels available for cleaning the chairs. We will cover the head rest with saran wrap in D118D as the head rest is cracked.
That's it for now. See you in Radiology!
