Update: Main Clinic Technology Issues
Good morning,
As you are aware, we have experienced several technical issues during the first few weeks of clinic. The most significant concerns have been slow computer start up and browsing, unexpected shutdowns, and difficulties with browser sign ins.
I am happy to report that several of these issues have now been resolved, while others are being actively investigated.
In working with CSS, the unexpected shutdowns were traced to a technical error associated with CDCP patient records. This issue has now been resolved. The next time you log in, you may be prompted to update your AxiUm client. Please select "Yes" to complete the update.
IST will also be assessing the clinic workstations this week to determine why they are operating so slowly. Hopefully, this assessment will help identify and resolve the underlying issue.
IST has also provided guidance regarding personal UM accounts remaining accessible in the browser, particularly when multiple users share the generic Clinic Windows login. According to IST, this occurs because Single Sign-On temporarily caches account credentials. If you sign in to SharePoint or UM Learn using your personal UM account, please do the following before leaving the workstation:
1. Sign out of SharePoint or UM accounts (e.g. UM Learn, Outlook) 2. Close all browser windows
When the browser is reopened, the cached session and profile information should be cleared, allowing the next person to sign in with their own account.
I hope these updates help things run more smoothly. A big thank you to CSS for their efforts in identifying and implementing solutions to these challenges so quickly.
Please let me know if you notice these or any other ongoing technical issues. When possible, include the unit number and a brief description of what occurred so the issue can be followed up appropriately. For isolated IT issues (e.g. signature pads not working), please continue to submit a ticket to IST by sending an email to DentIT@umanitoba.camailto:DentIT@umanitoba.ca).
Thank you for your patience as these concerns are addressed.
