There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding. When you are doing a mandibular block you should always be using long needles. Dispensary has 25 Longs available. You will not get local if the needle does not contact bone. If a short needle breaks it can be a multi hour surgery under general anaesthetic to retrieve it. The patient is unlikely to notice a difference between a 25 and 27 gauge needle and the 25 is less likely to deflect. We are never ever ever getting back together or using short needles for mandibular blocks.
