Instagram Takeover Opportunity - Showcase Your Day as an Education Student!

Your journey as an education student is incredibly important, and we would love for you to share it with our followers and prospective students around campus in March. The idea is to have one student a month to share their day on Instagram. During the takeover, we encourage you to share various aspects of your day as an education student. This could include: * Attending classes or lectures * Participating in group discussions * Engaging in study sessions * Preparing lesson plans or assignments * Interacting with professors or classmates * Pursuing extracurricular activities related to education. Feel free to get creative and share the highlights, challenges, and insights that define your experience as an education student. This is an opportunity to connect with our community and inspire others who may be considering a similar path. If you're interested in participating, please confirm your availability during March. Additionally, let us know if you have any specific ideas or themes you'd like to focus on during the takeover. AWARDS: UM Undergraduate Research Award: Are you an undergraduate student who wants to learn more about research and scholarship in Education? Do you want to get paid to gain experience in the world of academia? If so, you might want to consider applying for an Undergraduate Research Award<https://umanitoba.ca/research/opportunities-support/undergraduate-research-…>! The award is open to undergraduate students in all fields and ranges of research, scholarly works or creative activities. Students apply to be mentored over 16 weeks (May through August) by a professor of their choice. The hours are flexible and determined in collaboration with the Advisor. The monetary value of the award is $7,000 and the Faculty of Education has funding to support 5 URA students in 2024. How to apply: 1. Interview a professor that you hope to be supervised by, to learn about the research, scholarly work or creative activity they are undertaking, and how you may both possibly benefit from a research experience. Be sure to discuss possible hours/commitment requirements should you receive an award placement. 2. Complete the online application form and submit by February 13, 2024. SUMMER EMPLOYMENT: Literacy Links with the St. James-Assiniboia School Division: Are you looking for a summer job that will give you practical experience working with children and help you grow professionally as a teacher? If so, consider a position as a Literacy Links Facilitator with the St. James-Assiniboia School Division. You will receive all necessary training from a variety of professionals in the field and gain valuable experience for your teaching toolkit. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 9th. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision, implementation and evaluation of summer day camp programs including partial planning of activities, Counsellors will work closely with the Day Camp Coordinator and Education staff, as well as mentor and evaluate summer camp volunteers. The Camp Counsellor will be responsible for engaging large and small groups of children by delivering educational and interactive activities, games, and interpretive talks. Camp Counsellors will ensure extraordinary experiences by creating a fun, safe, and positive atmosphere with a sense of belonging and respect. Summer camps focus primarily on outdoor education and recreation for elementary school aged children. The application deadline is February 16th.
