Hi Jens,
We are running into a few problems with the Windows computers. Numerous (about 20-30) Windows students (and one staff member) are telling us that they download and install correctly. They followed all instructions. But when they click on the EpiData icons they do not open; except for Classic Analysis which does open. Manager, Entryclient and Analysis do not open. They have tried the icons in the program folder and also the shortcuts on the screen.
I have a Windows 10 computer updated November 2021 to Windows 10 21H2 and I have had no problems. Last year it was on 20H2 and no problem then either. I did not ask the students which version of Windows they are using, but last year we did not have this problem reported from anyone in the 1100 users who downloaded it (most were Windows users).
I was wondering if you have any ideas as to why this might be happening?
Regards
Brendan

That is a very good and clean guide.
My only suggestion is that you could add at the end how to make sure the default folder is defined correct.
Sometimes in teaching users are very little aware of the whole issue of them deciding folder structure and placement, because the OS assumes to decide.
Let me know if other issues come up.

Thanks Jens,
Here is the link to the YouTube video for Apple Mac users. I hope it is useful to some of the EpiData enthusiasts with Apple Macs. Please feel free to watch and then share the link if you are happy with the video.

Thanks very much,
This worked. I will make a video clip for the students showing them what needs to be done.

Which version of EpiData?
My experience with the current release of EpiData with Monterey is
similar
to earlier versions of MacOS.
If you right-click on the app in Finder, you will get that
message.
Cancel
that and then do it again. This time you will be able to click on
Open.
After that, it will run normally.

I have encountered problems when trying to install EpiData on my
new
Apple
Mac. The OS is Monterey 12.2.1
I get a message to contact the developers and ask them to update
the
software so that it can be installed if one has Monterey OS.
I am teaching an online course at the University of Pretoria,
that
includes
EpiData, starting in 10 days time. There are 1600 students
enrolled
and
almost certainly there will be some with the Monterey latest OS.
