Changing color of a field: Re: EpiData-list Digest, Vol 44, Issue 7
Hi, i'm a new user of epidata, but already familiar with epi6. This is my first time replying to an inquiry, and hope to provide some tips or at least initiate an idea to solving an inquiry.
To change the color of a field, a noenter or otherwise, you can have it defined at the beginning of a check file using the BEFORE FILE command, specifying the name of a field, and the color you want:
BEFORE FILE COLOR vname color
(i'm out in a field right now, i do not have access to my own pc, just using an internet cafe pc without epidata, so i can not provide more details on the command.)
Thanks. . .

Hi epidata users !
Please, how can I change the color of a noenter field ? I tried modify it using the colour function into a before block, but it works for every field except the noenter field.
I also tried to change the epidata.ini file, but it doesn´t work anyway.
Where is my mistake ?
I´d like to change the grey colour to another stronger one.
Thank you very much.

Hi Mauricio; The noenter function hides the field, so it is nor reachable. So, I doubt there is a way to modify its color. Gilles Delmas

Dear list,
I have two questions regarding Jumps in EpiData Entry.
- I want to jump to variable v10 if de score for v8 is 1 to 7. Of course
this works: v8 RANGE 1 9 COMMENT LEGAL USE oplcat JUMPS 1 v10 2 v10 3 v10 4 v10 5 v10 6 v10 7 v10 END MUSTENTER END
Is a shorter syntax possible and if so, how?
- Is it possible to make a jump defination that depends on the value
entered in a previous question? For example: After entering the value for variable v5 I want to jump to v8 if the answer on question v3=1.

Hi Pieter,
You can use a "IF... THEN..." syntax instead of "JUMP".
For your examples:
V8 AFTER ENTRY IF (V8 > 0 AND V8 < 8) THEN GOTO V10 END END
V5 AFTER ENTRY IF V3 = 1 THEN GOTO V8 END END
As you can see, this is pretty easy!
Regards
Yves

The COLOR command does not accept field names. It will change colors for all DATA entered, all QUESTION text or the BACKGROUND only. Jamie
