Should I use epidata entry or epidata manager
Dearl all:
I have been using epidata entry for some time, but I never wrote to the mailing list before.
I am about to start a new project and was wondering whether I should keep using epidata entry or switch to epidata manager, after read the announce on the download website: "The EpiData Database Manager (short:EpiData Manager) will replace current EpiData Entry for database and data documentation management, such as development of new data files, modifying structures, documentation etc."
Specifically, I would be pleased if you can advice me about:
1) how stable is EpiData Manager in comparisson with Entry (particularly the linux version). 2) Are the new features in Manager worthy enough to switch. 3) Shall I have to learn it all over again (is it too different) 4) My project is essentially the final version of a previous pilot study, the questionnaires I used were modified, but a substantial part of them weren't modified. I was planning to adapt my old .qes and .chk files for this project. Is this possible if I switch to manager?
Thank you very much for your attention and kind regards
Nicolás Montalva.
No one seems to have answered, so here is my opinion. Jamie

If you are not using related files or calculations within your .chk file, the answer is yes. Those two features are not yet implemented.

Not that different; the concepts are the same.

You can import your existing .rec files, including data, and then modify your project entry screen; or you could start from scratch. It is worth figuring out how to create new fields with the shortcut keys.

Over the next week the main EpiData site will be moved to a different server system, therefore some unstability might occur - although we try to avoid this.
If you are planning to run courses or similar please download material before the course and should some specific problems occur give an indication on the mail list of the problem. Before you give such an indication please check, that no one else already mentioned the same problem.
A new test version of EpiData EntryClient and Project Manager can be expected in a few days. Among other issues a new align feature in Manager has been implemented.

Dear all
The website has now been moved to a new internet provider. If some issues arise in relation to this give a notice to the list.
New versions for testing of Manager and EntryClient have been uploaded today. Please find the updated versions at http://www.epidata.dk/testing.php
Changes are as follows:
Manager NEW features: * Alignment form, which allow to align fields/sections/heading with each other in an easy manner. * Added a new "Select..." option, to select fields based on field type and other criterias.
With these two additions completion of a form is much easier, e.g. setting the same length of integers, application of value labels or aligning properly to have the correct flow during dataentry.
Manager and EntryClient: * shares a common recent files list * easier transition btw the two programs during development and testing of a given dataform. * Many minor bugs have been fixed and some visual features of interface changed to be more logical.
The full list of changes can be seen her: http://epidata.dk/epidatamanager.changelog.txt http://epidata.dk/epidataentryclient.changelog.txt
Please test in the following 1-2 weeks and with more minor changes the current is expected to be next public release.
Regards to all
