data export problem still exists in EpiData Manager 1.1.1
Dear friends,in EpiData Manager 1.1.1 I still can't normally export .epx to Stata .dta file.for example," <Records> <Record status="rsNormal">F0=1,F1=中国</Record> </Records>" is normally displayed in temp.epx. But in temp.dta the value of F1, 中国, can't be normally displayed in Stata.A new problem:When I click Add button in Valuelabel Editor, a message box displays:Out of memory.Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.Press Cancel to kill the program.Stata version: Stata12Stata file encoding: Chinese simple(CP936)EpiData ManagerProgram Version: 1.1.1 r432Core version: 1.0 r(DEBUG)FPC Version: 2.6.0Platform: i386-Win32Filename: C:\Users\ZhouLvJun\Desktop\temp.epxXML Version: 1Field count: 2Record count: 1 content of temp.epx: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><EpiData xmlns="http://www.epidata.dk/XML/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.epidata.dk/XML/1.0 http://www.epidata.dk/XML/1.0/epx.xsd" version="1" xml:lang="cn"> <Settings dateSeparator="/" timeSeparator="." decimalSeparator=","/> <ProjectSettings autoIncStart="1" timedBackupInterval="10" backupOnShutdown="true" showFieldNames="true" showFieldBorders="true"/> <StudyInfo> <Author></Author> <Agency></Agency> <Created>2012/05/21 20.54.14</Created> <Identifier></Identifier> <Keywords></Keywords> <Modified>2012/05/21 21.54.56</Modified> <Notes></Notes> <Version>1</Version> <Title> <Text xml:lang="cn">Untitled Project</Text> </Title> </StudyInfo> <DataFiles> <DataFile id="datafile_id_0" created="2012/05/21 20.54.14" version=""> <Records> <Record status="rsNormal">F0=1,F1=中国</Record> </Records> <Caption> <Text xml:lang="cn">Dataform 1</Text> </Caption> <Sections> <Section id="MAIN" top="0" left="0" width="0" height="0"> <Fields> <Field id="F0" top="32" left="50" type="ftInteger" length="1" decimals="0" entryMode="emDefault"> <Question> <Text xml:lang="cn">年龄</Text> </Question> </Field> <Field id="F1" top="73" left="49" type="ftString" length="20" decimals="0" entryMode="emDefault"> <Question> <Text xml:lang="cn">地区</Text> </Question> </Field> </Fields> <Headings/> </Section> </Sections> </DataFile> </DataFiles></EpiData> Thank you!Best regards,Richard Zhou2012-5-27
Does Stata support UTF-8 with chinese characters? I see on their support site a lot of questions about this, but no answers. Stata V12 infile statement has no support for extended character sets:
3. ASCII or EBCDIC data can be read. (from http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?infiling)
