Hello Dr Jean-Francois! That is the default epidata export to SPSS . if you want to have access to the file in .sav format, please follow the procedure.
1. Launch your spss software. 2 Go to file menu ->Open-> Syntax. 3. In the syntax window, select all and click on run.
With this steps you can have you files in data file(i.e .sav) instead of the syntax file.
