It is quite easy to set up a system where information is converted based on input in a field

Look in the help file for EpiData Entry under "comment legal".

e.g. qes: v1 entered information _______________________ v2 converted information ________________________________

chk file: v1 comment legal AMA "Aminoacetophen" ABA "Aminoacetophen" PC "Penicillin A" PC1 "Penicillin A" end

type comment v2 end

v2 noenter end

if you enter "AMA" or "ABA" in v1 then the equivalent "AminoAcetophen" will be copied into field v2.
