Below Message is sent on behalf of the Acting MAHN Coordinator, Katrina Cachero:
Dear MAHN students, Please see below for a few important announcements and reminders as we move into the last few placements of the program:
Email Communication
* To help streamline communication, please direct all general inquiries to MAHN.info@umanitoba.camailto:MAHN.info@umanitoba.ca. For urgent matters only, please contact the Coordinator directly. Placement 6
* Details for Placement 6 should now be available in Typhon. If you have not received information, please email us. * Students are expected to demonstrate competence in all areas of nutrition care prior to Placement 6. While some areas may still need further development, unless specific competencies have been flagged for follow up by the Coordinator, all evaluations will need to be completed through the placement assessment form. An additional tab may be added to the form to address those competencies. A PSE form will be completed by your preceptor (provided in advance to them) and must be submitted to MAHN.info by the last day of your clinical placement. This is required prior to starting your PSE placement. * The PSE placement is a minimum of 2 weeks (the time frame is decided by your preceptor), during which students are expected to operate independently, similar to an entry-level dietitian. While preceptors will still offer guidance and feedback, supervision will be minimal.
May Experiential Learning Week
* May ELW will be focused on career development, and the schedule will be shared approximately one week in advance. No pre-readings are required.
July Wrap Up Week
* Wrap up activities will take place from July 14-18. Planning is ongoing, and we'll share finalized details once available.
Staffing Update
* Katrina will continue in her Acting Coordinator role through July 31, 2025. * Kam will be away on vacation for 3 weeks in June. During that time, Sina will continue to support.
Professionalism Policy
* A friendly reminder that professionalism expectations remain in place for all placement, even if you are competent in all areas. Your conduct continues to reflect both the program and the profession.
Thanks. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. Best,
