Hi everyone,
The recent code orange was a good demonstration of how we are not always kept in the loop on potential traumas coming to the OR. As a result, an Anesthesia "role" has been added to the Tiger Connect Level 1 Trauma group. We can now optionally assign ourselves to this role when we are the IHA. This is akin to adding yourself to the Vocera "L&D Anesthesiologist" role when starting a labour floor call. The attached document provides instructions on how to add yourself to the role. The official title is "HSC In-House Anaesthesia Attending"
Although we are free to add ourselves whenever we start an IHA shift, I highly suggest to do so only under special circumstances. For anyone who has been in the room with Gold, you are well aware that this group is extremely active, with notifications coming quite frequently. Often these are non-operative cases, or cases where transport is being arranged with patient arrival several hours away. It can be quite distracting to be receiving irrelevant Tiger Connect messaging while delivering an anesthetic or in the rare times where we are able to get some sleep on call.. Examples of times you may want to opt in include during code oranges, or when Gold has given you a heads up on an imminent patient transfer to HSC requiring urgent surgical intervention.
I encourage everyone to at least give it a try. After you opt in the first time, you are able to save the IHA role as a favourite, making it quite easy to opt-in in the future. Be sure to opt out of the group so that you won't continue to receive notifications.
