I wanted to make you aware of an Entrance Scholarship that is being offered, the Frances Steinberg Scholarship.
The terms are very specific and are shared below. You must have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Fine Arts, Arts, with a major in Film or Theatre or Music.
If you do not meet those requirements, preference will be given to a mature student (employed full-time for a min. of 5 years without taking more than 24 credit hours or 4 full university courses). If you meet the criteria please email me and include a letter stating how you meet the required terms, as well as your CV at awardsugme(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:awardsugme@umanitoba.ca> We are under a deadline so unfortunately I will need these letters no later than Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by 4:00 pm.
This award was established to assist a student with a non-traditional background who is
entering the Undergraduate Medical Education program in the Max Rady College of Medicine. Each year,
beginning in 2017-2018, the available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship
to an undergraduate student who:
(1) has been admitted to the Undergraduate Medical Education program in the Max Rady College of
Medicine, and enrolls in the first year of study.
(2) has achieved a minimum Adjusted Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 3.75 used for admission to
the College of Medicine.
(3) has received either:
(a) an undergraduate or graduate degree in Fine Arts from an accredited university in North
America.
(b) an undergraduate or graduate degree in Arts, with a major in Film or Theatre, from an
accredited university in North America: or
(c) an undergraduate or graduate degree in Music from an accredited university in North
America.
If there are no applicants who meet criterion (3), preference will be given to a mature student who meets
criteria (1) and (2). A mature student will be defined as a student who has been employed full-time for a
minimum of 5 consecutive years without having taken more than 24 credit hours or four full university
courses (or equivalent) in an academic year within the corresponding employment time frame.
