Educational Exposure Program

Hi everyone, I am writing to let you know about the Educational Exposure program, which aims to facilitate student input and collaboration with course leads to revise the current curriculum of various modular and longitudinal courses across M1 and M2. Currently, there are no courses that have specifically reached out to us looking for student input, but if there is a course that you are particularly interested in, or believe certain aspects could use revision, please reach out to the course leader and inquire whether they would be interested in collaborating with you on an educational exposure project for the course. Examples of previous educational exposures involve reviewing course materials to ensure diversity of patient cases, updating lectures to incorporate more visual examples of medical conditions, searching for relevant videos and articles to add to the list of supplementary resources for certain lectures, and reviewing literature to identify gaps in current curriculum. If you are interested or have any other questions regarding the program, please let me know! Once a project is completed, students will receive MSPR recognition for their hard work. I have attached a document that outlines the Educational Exposure program that you can pass on to instructors when inquiring, as well as the document involved in project registration. Hey everyone, On Friday we will be having a review/practice session for the CV midterm. I have attached a Google Doc link below for everyone to input questions you’d like addressed at this session. The deadline to input questions is Wednesday at 10pm. Please include the relevant instructor’s name in brackets at the end of your question if it corresponds to a specific lecture. Please note this session is for CV related content, so questions related to respiratory topics are better directed to those instructors. Topics/lectures that are listed under RS but are closely linked with CV content (eg. Anatomy of mediastinum) I’m sure can still be answered by Dr. Cloutier and be inputted into the Doc, but please just ensure they’re related to the CV system. There are 6 interesting panels, and we would like you will pick one that you would like to join. Please see the event info and the registration link below. This panel will focus on mothers and fathers in medicine, and how they make their lives work. How do you integrate into a community you don’t consider “home?” What are some of the benefits of locum work? How can you make a happy life in a new place? This panel will include a variety of physicians who have incorporated non-clinical duties into their careers. Panelists are presented with the following starter questions. If you don’t get this panel and want to ask questions about residency, please feel free to do so in one of the other panels. Remember, every practicing physician was once a med student and resident too, so they can speak to their experiences even if they are a bit more remote. Opportunity for Participation on Department Head Search Committees

Hey all, I am reaching out with an opportunity to get involved with a department head search committee for the department of Ophthalmology and the department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. One medical student is required for each committee. Search committees would begin in November 2025 and run until Spring 2026 at the latest. The commitment will include attending 3-5 mandatory meetings in a hybrid setting, with the longest of these meetings being 1.5-2 hours in length. If you are interested, please respond to this email by Friday October 24 at 11:59pm. Student disability insurance

Please consider purchasing disability insurance. A student who suffers a disability may continue to incur living expenses. It is better to pay those expenses by collecting insurance rather than borrowing more on your Line of Credit (LOC). LOC Insurance, often called Loan Protector Insurance, is not guaranteed coverage and has limitations. Doctors Manitoba provides an exclusive disability insurance plan that is discounted and offered without a medical exam or other detailed health information. They offer this open enrollment between September 1 and October 31 each year. Please follow the link below to obtain more information and the link to the Application for Student Disability Income Insurance. Reminder re: scents - Rady FHS Attire and Dress Code

Hi Med 1s and 2s, You may or may not be aware that the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences has an Attire and Dress Code Guideline, which can be accessed below. This is a simple, short guideline providing reasonable direction. Part of this guideline relates to scents: 2.4 Scented products should be avoided, recognizing that some individuals have allergies and/or are sensitive to certain chemicals in scented products. Fragrances and other scented hygiene products shall not be used/worn in designated scent free zones. In areas that are not designated scent free zones, fragrances and scented hygiene products shall be used/worn in moderation and shall abide by any directions received in regard to the limitation or use of products with scents and/or fragrances to accommodate those with scent and/or fragrance allergies. In UofM classrooms and shared spaces on campus, please be mindful of those with allergies or sensitivities and try to avoid using scented products.
