I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! The Manitoba Medical Students' Association is seeking a medical student from the Class of 2028 or 2029 to apply for the Student Position on the UGME Admissions Committee. This role offers students the chance to actively engage in the selection process for applicants to the MD program, contributing to decisions that shape the future of our medical school. To apply for this role, you must not already be on the MMSA Council (this includes Class President and Academic Representatives). As part of the Admissions Committee (per the Terms of Reference), the student member will play a crucial role in:
* Recommending on all aspects of the process for selection of applicants for admission to studies leading to the MD degree, including the criteria for selection. * Selecting from among eligible applicants those whom an offer of admission shall be made, in accordance with the developed and approved guidelines and criteria of the College Council/College Executive Council and the University of Manitoba/Senate. * Determining whether an offer of admission shall be rescinded in cases where, after an offer is made, information arises calling into question the applicant’s character or integrity, including dishonesty, fraud in the application process, or other unprofessional behavior. * Exercising discretion in admission-related matters, particularly where rules and regulations are not explicitly covered by the Max Rady College of Medicine, Senate, or other University policies. * Providing regular reports and recommendations for approval to relevant approval bodies. * Referring priority issues related to its mandate to subcommittees or working groups for further review, collaboration, and analysis, as needed.
Deadline for submission is Sunday, Dec. 7th at 11:59 PM. Following this deadline, the selected candidate will be notified via email within two weeks.
