Rusty Ames Therapy Dog Award - Deadline Feb. 8, annually

The 'Rusty Ames' Therapy Dog Award
George and Linda (BSc (Pharm)/1969) Ames have established the Rusty Ames Therapy Dog Award to honour the life and legacy of Rusty (2003 - 2020), the much-loved and respected therapy dog who brought joy to students, faculty members, staff, and visitors to the Brodie Centre for many years. Rusty left behind a legacy of hard work, positivity, and giving back.
Each year, beginning in 2020-2021, one award of $500 will be offered to an undergraduate student who:
(1) Is enrolled full-time in the first or second year of study in the Undergraduate Medical Education Program at the University of Manitoba
(2) Is in good standing
(3) Has shown qualities that "Rusty," was well known and respected for: compassion and friendliness to others; volunteerism; and dedication to others
Candidates will be required to submit an application package to the awards committee:
i. Personal letter describing how they meet the qualities of Rusty.
ii. Letter of support from a faculty member, staff, or fellow student (letters can be sent directly to AwardsUGME@umanitoba.camailto:AwardsUGME@umanitoba.ca with the award name and nominee name in the subject line).
iii. Current curriculum vitae.
A commemorative certificate will accompany the award. Please note applications received after 4:00 pm on Feb. 8 will not be eligible. Jen Mair
