Hello everyone!

I am emailing as a heads-up that the nomination period for the 2026-2027 MMSA Council election will start next week (week of March 2nd). I encourage everyone to strongly consider running for a position. Being involved with the MMSA Council is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills to contribute to our student body, as well as boost your professional experience. Experiences that will serve you throughout your clerkship, CaRMS interviews, and careers.

Here is a list of positions that will be elected through this upcoming election:

1. Senior Stick 2. Vice-Stick Internal Junior (Jr.) 3. Vice-Stick External Junior (Jr.) 4. Treasurer Junior (Jr.) 5. Programmers (2-4 positions) 6. UMSU Representative 7. Senator 8. Communications Representative Junior (Jr.) 9. Wellness Representative 10. Research Program Representative

You may only run for one position, and you may not run as a group or "slate."

Any student running for the position of Senior Stick must have at least one year of MMSA Council experience (elected, appointed, or ex officio) and must be in Medicine 3 or 4 during their term of office (i.e., in CL2027 or 2028).

Any student running for the position of Vice-Stick Internal Junior, Vice-Stick External Junior, Programmer, Communications Representative Junior, or Junior Treasurer must be in Medicine 2 during their term in office (i.e., in CL2029).

The Vice-Stick EDI Junior role will be elected through a separate election process, which is to be administered by the Vice-Stick EDI Senior following this election and before the end of the academic year.

Any student running for the position of Research Program Representative must be within the MD/PhD or MD/MSc stream.

Teams or Discord, for all Medicine 1 - 4 students, shall not be used for campaigns or advertising candidates.

I will be sending out a formal email next week marking the beginning of the nomination period. It will contain all the information within this email, as well as a final number of positions for each role, and additional information regarding speeches, nomination and voting periods.
