Med 1 Wellness Fair activity registration 2026
Hello, Class of 2029!
As the Med 1 Wellness Fair is fast approaching (January 16th), we are now opening the registration for the breakout sessions. Please use this link https://www.cognitoforms.com/StudentAffairs4/Med1WellnessFair20260116BreakoutSessionRegistration to register for one of fifteen activities no later than 1:00 p.m. on December 10th, at which time the registration will close.
NOTE: Some activities have capacity limits. Activities are assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis NOTE: Any students who have not registered for an activity will be randomly assigned to an activity. Please note we are unable to accommodate changes once assignments are made. NOTE: Certain activities requiring a minimum number of participants will be canceled if that number is not met. We will do our best to ensure that if a student’s first-choice activity is cancelled, the student is placed in the alternate activity choice they selected at time of registration.
Med 1 Wellness Fair: January 16, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:50 p.m.
1:00 – 1:45 p.m.: Whole Group Session Keynote Address (“Resilience”) by Dr. Alex Sharp, Frederic Gaspard Theatre (Theatre A) Dr. Alex Sharp is an Internal Medicine resident dedicated to improving community health locally and globally.
2:00 – 3:45 p.m.: Breakout session activities On the activity registration form, you will be prompted to indicate your first choice (as well as back-up choices) from the following activities: Breakout session description Location Facilitator Nutrition Nirvana: Students will learn meal-planning tips and fuelling strategies while making, and enjoying, high-protein Greek yogurt parfaits Rm TBD Joan Marks, Registered Dietitian Indigenous Beading: Learn about the cultural significance and traditions of beading. Students will have the opportunity to create a beaded medallion Rm TBD Christine Brouzes, Indigenous Beader Diamond Art: This is a self-paced, student-led session. Students will be provided with a kit, much like a paint-by-number kit, and will create works of art by applying small resin “diamonds” to prints Rm TBD N/A, student-led Cookies & Casual Financial Conversations: Our own Financial Counsellor, Wendy Schultz, will teach you how to design hand-decorated sugar cookies, while answering any financial questions you may have in an informal setting. Students will take home a gift box filled with cookies. Rm TBD Wendy Schultz, Financial Consultant Zumba: A high-energy, Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that will have you dancing to a variety of rhythms. Ditch the gym workout and join the dance party! * This session runs from 2:00-3:00 p.m.. Remember to sign the attendance sheet at the front reception desk UM Gym UM Gym Instructor Dodgeball: Wear comfy clothes and good shoes. This is a student-led session, so you can decide to play whichever version of dodgeball that you like, but we do recommend trying Doctor Dodgeball! UM Gym N/A, student-led Pilates: A low-impact exercise method focused on building core strength, improving posture, enhancing flexibility, and promoting controlled, mindful movement. * This session runs from 2:00-3:00 p.m.. Remember to sign the attendance sheet at the front reception desk UM Gym UM Gym Instructor Revival Through Yoga: This is a slow-paced class that works to stretch connective tissues as well as create healthy stress for joints ligaments and tendons. Breath is linked in to assist our practice and quiet our minds. *The session will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Remember to sign the attendance sheet at the front reception desk UM Gym UM Gym Instructor Board Games & Snacks: Kick back and play some boardgames with your friends while enjoying some delicious snacks. Games will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their favourite games as well Rm TBD N/A, student-led Cat Therapy at Cleocatra Cafe: Enjoy some therapeutic time with some furry friends while enjoying a delicious drink (admission and drink provided) 106 Osborne St N/A, student-led Activate: Jump, climb, problem-solve, and laugh, as you and your friends move between challenges. Each dynamic game room has interactive technology that reacts in real-time, ensuring an adrenaline-filled adventure. Students will be put into groups of 3-5. Additional details, including free admission, will be provided to registered students 10-1150 Nairn Ave N/A, student-led Bowling at Polo Park Bowling Centre: A 90-minute bowling session. 5 participants will share a lane. Shoe rental, pizza, and a beverage are included 1485 Portage Ave N/A, student-led Billiards at Flea Whiskey’s: Unwind and socialize with friends while playing a few rounds of billiards. A non-alcoholic beverage of your choice is included 601 Erin St N/A, student-led Bingo: No fancy event description needed here…we’ve ALL played and enjoyed Bingo! Our Student Affairs Coordinator, Alyzia Horsfall, will be your game facilitator. Come enjoy some sweet treats and win some cool prizes Rm TBD Alyzia Horsfall, Student Affairs Coordinator Mini Golf at U-Puttz Amusement Park: Play mini-golf and one additional activity of your choice (Laser Tag, XD Motion Cinema Ride or a bumper car ride).
