Whether you’re getting started in your career of medical education or an experienced practitioner wanting to expand your med ed knowledge, join us for interactive discussions on a variety of topics related to teaching and learning in clinical settings. The Clinical Learner in Difficulty: Practical Strategies for the Clinical Preceptor (Faculty and Program Directors) Clinical teachers often work with learners whom they find challenging or “difficult”. However, we all view learners’ problems differently, and whether we label a learner as a “problem” depends on many factors. This workshop provides practical strategies for recognizing, diagnosing, and working with learners with problems.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, the participant will be able to
* apply a framework to diagnose a problem learner, * identify practical strategies for working with a problem learner, and * describe how to manage reactions to difficult feedback.
