Writing a Teaching Philosophy Statement The Alan Klass Program in Health Humanities, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and the Office of Innovation in Scholarship and Medical Education (ISME) are pleased to provide one-on-one coaching for the development or refinement of a Teaching Philosophy Statement (TPS) during the Winter term with Maurice Mierauhttps://www.mauricemierau.com/. Maurice provides individualized coaching for writing concise and effective Teaching Philosophy Statement. His many years of experience as an editor in academic, technical, and literary genres leads to meaningful feedback and actionable advice. His suggestions are at the level of presentation, style and copy edit, and not relevant to the subject matter itself.

Maurice Mierau is a Winnipeg writer and editor who has worked extensively in the College of Medicine with a variety of audiences including faculty. His family memoir, Detachment, won the Kobzar Literary Award, as well as the Alexander Kennedy Isbister Award for Non-Fiction. His poetry collections include Autobiographical Fictions, Fear Not, winner of the ReLit Award for Poetry, and Ending with Music. Mierau was founding editor of the Canadian fiction imprint Enfield & Wizenty, and of the online magazine Winnipeg Review. Born in Indiana, he grew up in Nigeria, Manitoba, Jamaica, Kansas and Saskatchewan. He holds an MA in English literature and completed a Columbia University seminar on Narrative Medicine in 2019.
