Brain Awareness Week is now in the books for 2015. Last week the Winnipeg Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience hosted a successful visit from a Canada Excellence Research Chair and presented a very well-received and well-attended Café Scientifique on concussion/brain injury. On Saturday, we finished the week by presenting the first ever Manitoba Brain Bee. Manitoba high school students performed well and a winner was declared. We are excited to grow this event over the next several years as a tool for grass-roots neuroscience outreach in our local communities.
This event included talks and demonstrations and was a challenge to organize and execute. I am especially grateful to the following people for making it a success:
Dr. Sari Hannila Dr. Melanie Martin Dr. Barb Shay Dr. Sabine Hombach-Klonisch Dr. Katinka Stecina Dr. Sarah Chen (Stecina Lab) Crystal Acosta (Anderson Lab) Scott Dyck (Karimi Lab)
Thanks to all!! Check www.sfn-manitoba.cahttp://www.sfn-manitoba.ca soon for photos of all events.
