Our live, virtual, instructor-led OPRT classes are available for booking on our regular registration calendar at various dates and times through March 15, 2024. A free, personal supply of nasal naloxone kits will be shipped to every confirmed attendee of a live OPRT class that places an order with us on or before March 15th. As the Opioid Poisoning Response Training programs conclude operations on March 31, 2024, we extend our deepest gratitude to all our followers and supporters for their unwavering dedication to promoting workplace safety and saving lives. While this chapter may be ending, our commitment to your safety remains steadfast.

Every person that completes a live training class is eligible to receive a free shipment of nasal naloxone kits for use in the workplace and the community.

As an important program contact, we are reaching out to inform you that St John Ambulance’s Opioid Poisoning Response Training Programs are slated to end on March 31st, 2024. We are working with community partners to help them prepare for our potential closure, but also want to ensure that our contacts within all levels of government, Indigenous communities, and other critical networks are also aware and able to contact us with questions or concerns.
Currently, we are awaiting feedback from Health Canada regarding our request to extend these programs for another 1 to 2 years. We are proud to say that as of January 31st, 2024, a total of 754,955 individuals have received free opioid poisoning response training through this program, and we have distributed more than 74,800 free nasal naloxone kits to underserved communities across Canada. Some of you may have worked with us to reach hard-hit areas; we are grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to provide support by attending your events, coordinating emergency naloxone shipments to communities in times of crisis, and collaborating to deliver training to community leaders.
If you and/or your community has benefitted from this free program, and you would like to voice your support for a funding extension to Health Canada, we want to hear from you! Community support and testimonials are of critical importance to ensure Health Canada understands the importance of maintaining access to free training and nasal naloxone for all Canadians.
