This presentation offers a glimpse into our ongoing mixed methods, critical participatory action research (CPAR) aimed at mapping racial/ethnic disparities in undergraduate nursing education. The focus is primarily on our methodology and approach to CPAR, underscoring its collaborative nature and its potential to engage with undergraduate nursing students in a co-creative process. Through participatory theatre, sharing circle dialogue and collective reflections, we worked together (as a team of researchers and undergraduate nursing student research assistants) to develop a survey on racial disparities to administer to the undergraduate nursing student population. Some preliminary survey data collected from a sample of undergraduate nursing students at the University of Manitoba will be presented. The survey data includes demographic information including information about intersecting social identities, academic and clinical performance metrics, and initial insights into students' perceptions of disparities within their educational journey. These quantitative findings provide an early snapshot of some of the complexities and tensions within undergraduate nursing education that may be applicable to the broader nursing profession.
