Abstract: Limits on family presence in health care facilities due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions presented a unique challenge to inpatient palliative care teams, whose care by definition extends beyond the patient to include their family. This presentation will describe a qualitative study that explored the experiences of the multidisciplinary health care team working on a Canadian inpatient palliative care unit during the COVID-19 pandemic. This presentation will share the overarching themes that arose from the 25 semi-structured interviews with multidisciplinary healthcare staff as well as their suggestions regarding visitor restrictions in a palliative care setting for the future.
