Hello fellow students,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for another exciting school semester.
My name is Amarachi Miracle Ndukauba, and I’m the current Peer Mentorship Chair of the NSA. I am excited to invite you to be part of something meaningful, the Mentorship Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. We've received lots of positive feedback from past participants, and we're excited to get more students involved this term!
What is the Mentorship Program All About? The NSA Mentorship Program was created to support nursing students not only in their academic journey but in personal and professional development as well. Our goal is to foster a positive, welcoming, and empowering environment for all nursing students through mentorship.
Why Become a Mentee? Whether you're in your first term or later in the program, becoming a mentee is a valuable opportunity! You'll be paired with a nursing student further along in the program who can offer guidance, share their experiences, and help you navigate nursing school. You can get Encouragement, support, and motivation throughout the semester, which will Increase self-confidence and clarity on academic and career goals. It also festures a Flexible time commitment; recommended ~3 hours/month, but it’s entirely up to you and your mentor!
Why Become a Mentor? Mentors play an essential role in helping fellow students thrive. If you're in your 2nd year (Term 2), 3rd year, or 4th year, you’re eligible to mentor another student! You can Receive an Experiential Learning Record from the College of Nursing and the University of Manitoba student body. This will strengthen your resume/CV with leadership experience, it can also help shape someone’s success in the College of Nursing. Improve your communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Gain new perspectives and connect with future nursing professionals
Returning Mentors; Want to Sign Up Again? Thank you for your continued support of the program! We ask that all returning mentors complete the updated application form, as we do not carry over previous forms. Your experience and skills may have changed and we want to reflect that when making mentor-mentee matches. The form includes a section to indicate that you’ve mentored with us before.
