College of Nursing: Annual Wellness Retreat 2026
Connecting Through Leadership, Learning and Community Thursday, November 12, 2026 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. FortWhyte Alive, Buffalo Crossing |2505 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg Join colleagues from across the College of Nursing for a day of reflection, learning, connection, and community. Through ceremony, keynote presentations, and interactive activities, we will explore leadership, wellness, reconciliation, and restorative practices while strengthening the relationships that support our work and our College. Featured Keynote Love, Anger and Leadership Dr. Marcia Anderson, MD [cid:7cca449d-cd33-46fd-a103-cb41f1fb1f4d] Dr. Marcia Anderson is a Cree-Anishinaabe physician and Vice-Dean of Indigenous Health, Social Justice and Anti-Racism, here at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. A nationally recognized leader in Indigenous health, public health, and medical education, her work focuses on advancing equity, reconciliation, and systemic change in health care and health professions education. Participants will explore:
* Local Anishinaabe teachings of love in leadership practice. * The impact of stereotypes and barriers faced by Indigenous, Black, and racialized women in leadership. * The role of both love and anger in advancing social justice and anti-racist change.
Afternoon Session Dr. Pedro Flores, PhD, MAS, CCRP [Dr. Pedro L. Flores, Restorative Doctor] Returning to the College this year, Dr. Flores will lead an interactive afternoon session focused on restorative practices, leadership, and community-building.
