Dear Gordon
My name is Dom Kwok, advisor to the UMSU Photo Club.
This is the situation.
The lock to U Ctr Rm 116 has never been re-keyed since installation.
Half of the Photo Club darkroom space was conceeded to the Copy Center a number of years ago, whence one of the darkrooms was made the (current) entrance; when the pass code access and this off-master and off-half-master lock was installed.
Our Club never had the notion nor resources to any re-keying nor re-installing any lock to "go off" the master key system.
UM Operations & Maintebance serviced the lock about three times, so far.
The keys we have for the interior darkrooms, are all signed out through previous UMSU authorities, with paid deposits.
We welcome the rectification, of which you have started, to get the lock and key system back on par to your specification.
While we are on topic, the passcode entry unit is in poor shape. If a new one will be installed, it would be much appreciated.
Yesterday afternoon, when I was in the darkrooms, the Campus Security lady came by to check, and we duely supplied her with the current pass code.
The passcode is: 23-1-45 (ie. press 2 and 3 at the same time, then press 1, and then press 4 and 5 at the same time)
The pass code, I used to routinely supply to the UMSU frontdesk and night managers (old security system)
If there is anything you like me to clarify, I would be happy to explain.
Please email me at domkwok@gmail.com 204 979 8886
Thank you.
Dom

Dear Photo Club,
UMSU is the owner of UMSU University Centre Room 116, which your group occupies. It has come to our attention that the lock to this room has been keyed off the sub-master (ie. It cannot be opened by University of Manitoba master keys). This is not permitted under University of Manitoba policies for reasons of safety and security.
Please be advised that the lock to this room will be replaced, likely within the next 2 weeks. If the new lock is compatible with the existing padlock system the padlock will remain in place and if it is not the padlock will be removed and you will be provided with a code-protected lockbox containing a key.
In the meantime, *we need the code to the lock in order to complete a mandatory Safety & Health Site Inspection. *Please respond to this email as soon as possible with the code to the lock.
Sincerely,
*Gordon Chandler*, B.Comm.(Hons.)
