Seed Processing and Storage Buildings

————————————————————————————————— Good Morning, As of today, we are allowed to resume normal activities in the Seed Processing and Seed Storage buildings at the point. Normal operations can continue until the Red River rises above its lower banks in the spring of 2024, or March 31st, 2024, whichever is soonest. From: Ralph Kowatsch <Ralph.Kowatsch(a)umanitoba.ca> Sent: Thursday, July 6, 2023 2:16 PM To: Alina Skorobohatova <Alina.Skorobohatova(a)umanitoba.ca> Subject: Plant Science Chemical Inventory Check Hi Alina Please forward to all staff Thanks Ralph Considering the incident in the Chemistry Department with 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) last week and our upcoming inspections please be aware of the hazards of the chemicals in your labs. Make sure you have a SDS for each chemical and understand the hazard. The WHMIS symbol for DNPH only indicates that it is an irritant, only further in the SDS text does it indicate that it is a potential explosive. Be aware that many explosive compounds contain Nitro groups.
