Dear Graduate Students, We are currently searching for a term position within the department as a canola/rapeseed breeder. This Thursday, Dr. Xiuqiang Huang, one of the candidates for the position, will give a special seminar at 3:30 PM in Room 218 entitled "Use of innovative approaches for crop improvement and germplasm development." I would encourage all of you to attend as it is a great opportunity to view the candidate as see what a research seminar involves. Further to this, we have an hour on Friday, April 20 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM to meet with Dr. Huang in Room 218. This is an excellent opportunity to ask Dr. Huang questions and the candidates views on several aspects of their potential academic position. Departmental hirings are made at many levels and can significantly affect graduate students. Consequently, your opinions will be important to the hiring process and I would therefore encourage you to attend this meeting with the candidate and email your feedback to me so that I can pass it on to Dr. Ballance.
