Just a few updates on upcoming events relating to the PSGSA:
* Chinese new year is on January 25th, so we will be holding a Chinese new year lunch on the 24th (a Friday). You can expect a signup sheet in the grad student lounge soon (Keep an eye out for another email about it the beginning of next week).
* Endowment fund proposals are due at the end of February, so if you have any ideas regarding upgrades needed around the department (The new mailboxes in the lounge and the picnic tables in the courtyard came from the endowment, for reference) so if you have any ideas for endowment fund proposals feel free to let us know!
* Another thing we use the endowment fund for is hosting guest speakers to give seminars and/or workshops for the department/faculty. We are asking the graduate student body for recommendations of speakers (either academic or industry affiliated) involved in plant science, so send any ideas our way.

You've probably heard of the recent string of suspicious persons/theft in the department. We just want to remind everyone avoid keeping valuables or cash in the lounge (it was broken into recently) and make sure to lock your offices/labs/etc when they are vacant.
