1) Recognize common cognitive, affective, and behavioral responses during pandemics
2) Anticipate how these responses might impact performance and wellness of graduate students
3) Discuss evidence-based strategies to manage intense emotional responses and to enhance wellness in high-stress situations

Biography:
Dr. Andrea Piotrowski is a clinical psychologist with the Clinical Health Psychology Program, Director of the Adult Assessment Team, and an Assistant Professor in the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In addition to her clinical work in the public healthcare system, she also provides assessment and treatment through the Student Mental Health Service to students and residents in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences as well as physicians and their families through MDCare. Dr. Piotrowski supervises residents and early career psychologists and teaches students in medicine. She received her Master's degree in experimental psychology and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Manitoba and completed her residency in neuropsychology at Yale University. Dr. Piotrowski also maintains a small private practice.
