To whom it may concern: The 2022-2023 competition for the Dr. Forough Khadem Memorial Award is now open. Details regarding this award are attached to this email. Deadline: April 12, 2023 – 12:00 pm: Submit eligible application (application package, reference letters, and digital photo) to RFHSgraduateawards(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:RFHSgraduateawards@umanitoba.ca>. To apply for this award, applicants will be required to ensure the submission of the following: (I) APPLICATION PACKAGE: An application package, in a single PDF file with file name “department - applicant surname” (for example, Immunology – Smith]. Applications must include the following (in order): 1. application cover form (attached to this email); 2. curriculum vitae; 3. a description of the candidate’s proposed or ongoing research (maximum 500 words); 4. a description of the candidate’s leadership experience through formal or informal roles in our community (maximum of 500 words). and attached to the email as a separate file - 5. digital photo of the candidate suitable for use in the presentation of award, should the candidate be selected as recipient of the award (landscape format; high resolution [0.5 – 1 MB] preferred); (II) REFERENCE LETTERS: 6. two letters of reference; at least one letter must be provided from a professor at a post-secondary institution that supports their scientific excellence and leadership/initiative; i. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital annual Pursuit Awards International Competition - Call for Applications

[cid:image001.jpg@01D94B73.1CE5E150] Dear colleagues, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital's 13th annual Pursuit Awards international competition is now accepting applications. This competition recognizes PhD students and recent doctoral graduates from across the globe for their outstanding contributions to and achievements in childhood disability research, thus creating a world of possibilities for children and youth living with disabilities and their families. Some of the country's leading young minds have showcased their innovative research, from examining how physical activity can enhance the health of children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions, to developing a tool to help families make informed treatment decisions for their child living with brachial plexus birth injury. The top three candidates, chosen by an esteemed judging panel of scientists, staff and family leaders, will be announced at a ceremony held virtually during the annual Ward Research Day on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. The first-place recipient will receive $3,000. The second-place recipient will receive $2,000. The third-place recipient will receive $1,000. The annual Pursuit Awards is made possible by the generous contributions of The Ward Family Foundation, Holland Bloorview Foundation donors, and the Bloorview Research Institute. The Geneva Challenge 2023: The Challenges of Loneliness - Call for registration

Hello graduate students, The Geneva Challenge, hosted by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, is a project funded by Swiss Ambassador Jenö Staehelin and aims to encourage interdisciplinary problem-solving analysis among master students on advancing human development within the scope of a relevant topic. This year, students are invited to develop analysis-based proposals on "The Challenges of Loneliness". As the key to this issue is an interdisciplinary solution, crossing traditional boundaries between academic disciplines, we are inviting Master students from all academic programs and from anywhere in the world to provide helpful strategic recommendations. Five prizes, one per continent, will be distributed. Teams of 3-5 master students must submit an 8,000 words proposal which: * identifies a challenge related to loneliness; * constructs an interdisciplinary analysis to address the identified challenge; * proposes innovation at the policy, practice, process or technology levels turning the challenge into a development opportunity. The Geneva Challenge 2023 will distribute 25'000 CHF in monetary prizes and the five finalist teams will be invited (travel and accommodation expenses covered) to publicly present their work in Geneva before a panel of high-level experts. Networking opportunities are also envisioned as part of the prize package. Registrations close on 23 April 2023. Submission due by 14 July 2023.
