Late yesterday afternoon we were made aware of a typo in one of the platforms advertising Research Days (CSHRF) indicating the deadline to register as July 7th. As we can't be sure how many students saw this July 7th deadline date, in an effort to try to minimize confusion and keep the competition fair, we have extended the registration deadline to July 7th. Regarding the Manitoba Poster Competition, the virtual format will include pre-recorded video presentations by student presenters followed (after initial evaluation by judges) by live (Zoom) discussion with the judges. Details of the mechanism by which presentations will be recorded will be provided to registered presenters in due course. Biography: Dr. Andrea Piotrowski is a clinical psychologist with the Clinical Health Psychology Program, Director of the Adult Assessment Team, and an Assistant Professor in the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In addition to her clinical work in the public healthcare system, she also provides assessment and treatment through the Student Mental Health Service to students and residents in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences as well as physicians and their families through MDCare. Dr. Piotrowski supervises residents and early career psychologists and teaches students in medicine. She received her Master's degree in experimental psychology and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Manitoba and completed her residency in neuropsychology at Yale University. Doing Well During Stressful Times: Managing the New Normal of Life During the COVID-19 Pandemic Graduate studies is usually a stressful pursuit; graduate studies during the COVID-19 pandemic is even more stressful! Join us for a 1 hour webinar focused on helping graduate students manage and do well during this truly unique time. Counsellors from the Student Counselling Centre on campus (David Ness and Natalia Mozol) will provide practical strategies for managing social isolation, physical distancing, COVID-19 "overload", negative thinking and worry and more. Participants will be provided workshop materials following the session. This session will be offered via ZOOM and students are invited to participate as they would like (e.g. ask questions via chat function or live using audio and mic, activate video, simply listen, etc.). It is important during this time to take action to be as mentally healthy as possible and not simply wait for better times to come.
