Graduate Program Recruitment
Graduate Students: Are you interested in graduate training at the intersection of data analytics and health? Are you looking to gain experience while completing a graduate program at University of Manitoba or University of Victoria? The Visual and Automated Disease Analytics (VADA) Program might be for you! The last intake round for the VADA program is live and accepting applications for the final cohort of the program. The VADA Program aims to train the next generation of health, health informatics, and computational science graduate students to translate complex health data into insights that can be used to improve the health of populations and support health care decision making. Students foster skills in software programs such as R, Python and Tableau by working with real datasets and problems. Professional competencies are also developed in responsible conduct of research, communications, entrepreneurism, project management, professional and personal development. Students complete the VADA Program in one year while concurrently completing their degree. The program has four components:
* Foundations of Disease Analytics Course (3 credit hours offered over two semesters) * Summer School * Internship (8 weeks for Master's students and 16 weeks for Doctoral students) * A thesis project focused on data visualization and/ or advanced analytics (e.g., statistical or machine learning, network analysis) for chronic or infectious diseases Students are eligible for one year of funding. Current stipends are $19,000 for Master's students and $23,000 for Doctoral students.
