Good morning,
Please note that your building will be transitioned to the new office cleaning program beginning Monday, August 24th in preparation for the Fall term. These changes support the goals of the Campus Cleanliness Plan. A new intranet page outlines our caretaking services and definitions: Cleaning serviceshttps://umanitoba.sharepoint.com/sites/um-intranet-facilities/SitePages/Cleaning%20services.aspx. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your office space, please contact fg-caretaking@umanitoba.camailto:fg-caretaking@umanitoba.ca and we can assess the space with you. Key changes include:
* Office cleaning will move to a once-weekly full clean of floors, completed during the afternoon/evening shift (2:00 p.m.–10:15 p.m.). * Individual desk-side waste and recycling bins will no longer be emptied individually. Office occupants will need to empty their own bins into designated three-stream waste collection stations located in hallways or in shared spaces. * See mapshttps://umanitoba.sharepoint.com/sites/um-intranet-sustainability/SitePages/waste.aspx#hallway-waste-collection-program for three-stream hallway waste collection stations. * For units and individuals that require temporary continuation of desk-side garbage collection, a green tag system will be implemented. Offices with green hang tags will receive weekly garbage collection as part of office cleaning. * The green tags are available by contacting Caretaking Services at fg-caretaking@umanitoba.camailto:fg-caretaking@umanitoba.ca * The green tag system will continue to be available during the transition period and is expected to be gradually phased out by December 2026. Caretaking Services will continue working with units to support reasonable transition needs where operational considerations exist. * Employees who may require workplace accommodation related to this transition are encouraged to contact UM.Accommodation@umanitoba.camailto:UM.Accommodation@umanitoba.ca. Requests will be reviewed and supported through the University’s established accommodation process. * Lunchrooms and shared kitchen/breakroom spaces will continue to be cleaned daily after 2:00 p.m. * If you would like an organics bin for your lunchroom, please contact fg-caretaking@umanitoba.camailto:fg-caretaking@umanitoba.ca. * For more information on the organics program [https://res.public.onecdn.static.microsoft/assets/fluentui-resources/1.1.0/a...] Organics in offices information.pdfhttps://umanitoba.sharepoint.com/:b:/s/um-intranet-sustainability/IQD384I7enssQ44TjTOyJd9pAVbsovOngOv_srE9MXCULXw?e=TfAOkx. We would appreciate your assistance in sharing this information with faculty and staff within your units. If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, or suggestions for waste station placement, please contact fg-caretaking@umanitoba.camailto:fg-caretaking@umanitoba.ca.
