All university employees including full-time and part-time faculty and staff are required to complete the Government of Manitoba’s annual anti-racism training, in accordance with provincial legislation. The foundational anti-racism course is available in UM Learn and takes approximately two to three hours to complete. The interactive course includes slides, videos, resources, and an optional self-reflection journal. Completion of this training is automatically recorded in VIP. Once employees complete this foundational course, they can fulfil the annual training requirement in future years by either repeating this course or completing the UM Continuing Anti-Racism Training plus self-reported completion of a UM anti-racism learning opportunity. Upcoming Changes to Microsoft OneDrive Storage

Hello all, I am sending this email to everyone to inform you of the changes that are coming for Microsoft OneDrive Storage limits. If you have received this email twice, I apologize, I want to make sure that everyone gets it. If you are no where near the 100 gigabyte threshold, then this email will just be for information purposes. This is a lengthy email that I encourage you to read, but long story short, after Feb 28th you will have limited functionality in Onedrive unless you pare down to 100 gigs, or buy more storage. If you wish to purchase more Onedrive storage, please contact IST. ______________________ Effective February 28th 2026, all OneDrive accounts that have purchased additional storage will have their quotas increased by the amount purchased. All other staff will have their quotas adjusted to the default value of 100 GBs. Staff under the quota will have full access to OneDrive, but may receive warning messages if they are at 80% capacity. Those over the quota will be limited to Read Only access for files and folders stored in OneDrive. This Read Only access will not affect Outlook, SharePoint, or other services. However, uploading, saving new files, and synchronizing local files will not be possible. Due to the lack of synchronization, deleting files must be done through the web version of OneDrive , and assistance from the IST Service Desk may be required to complete cleanup. Staff will still be able to access their OneDrive files, but any edits must be saved as new copies in another storage location. Additionally, files shared with others will also be in Read Only mode and not editable. While the deadline to meet the quota is February 28, 2026, please encourage your staff to take advantage of the available supports and resources to reduce their storage usage as soon as practical. I'm looking to update some of our promotional materials with new photos, including our website, print content, and digital screens. I recognize that the end of the term is drawing near, but I was wondering if there would be any opportunities for me to shadow any upcoming final lectures, presentations, and/or lab or field work? I'm looking to capture some moments between students and teaching staff, whether it be staged or live. If you know certain students in your class would prefer not to be photographed, no worries - shoot me a message and we can plan shots with specific students supplied with waivers, or we can put up signs to notify your class and alert people where shots will be taken. Please let me know if there would be any availability for me to join in over the next week or two. The request for resources must come from Faculty members (Principal Investigators, PIs), and the allocation is given to the PI’s research group, their group members, and academic external collaborators. > > Grex is the High-Performance Computing (HPC) system at the University of Manitoba. Since the SISF renewal completed in 2024, its generally available compute capacity is as follows: > · 30 of 192-core AMD Genoa 9654 nodes with either 4 GB or 8 GB of memory per core. > · 54 nodes of 40 or 52-core Intel CascadeLake CPUs, 3.5 ot 9GB of memory per core > · 2 nodes with 4x NVIDIA V100 GPUs, Intel CascadeLake CPUs, and 192 GB memory > · 2 nodes with 2x NVIDIA L40s GPUs, AMD Genoa CPUs, and 384 GB memory. > > The total number of allocatable CPU cores is 8,644. > > · General GPU nodes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no dedicated GPU allocations, as the number of GPUs (eight V100s and four L40s) is limited. We ask you to indicate if you anticipate using the GPUs in your proposal. > · Contributed resources: A significant number of contributed GPUs (34 total, comprising A30 and V100 models) and CPU cores (1,992 AMD Genoa) are available. Kluge Prize – Ongoing<https://www.loc.gov/programs/john-w-kluge-center/kluge-prize/> The Kluge Prize celebrates the importance of the study of humanity and recognizes individuals whose outstanding scholarship in the humanities and social sciences has shaped both public affairs and civil society. The Prize is ordinarily a $1 million award. The Prize rewards sustained achievement in a wide range of disciplines including history, philosophy, politics, anthropology, sociology, religion, criticism in the arts and humanities, and linguistics—disciplines not covered by the Nobel Prizes.
