Volunteer Abroad with WUSC Info Session November 18, 9:30-10:00 AM Virtual, on Zoom Register herehttps://forms.office.com/r/YN1UKZFmWJ
This session is open to All UM students UM Faculty & staff members Have you ever considered volunteering internationally? Do you want to learn more about how your skills can contribute to global development? Join this event to learn more about World University Service of Canada (WUSC)'s Volunteer Cooperation Program and the 80th International Seminar, which will be held in Accra, Ghana.
Whether you are a student, an early-career professional, a mid-career professional, or a retired professional, you can give your time and share your skills and experience in support of development programs that improve education, economic, and empowerment opportunities for young people around the world. As an international volunteer, you will collaborate with a WUSC country program partner, such as a non-governmental organization working in youth economic opportunities, an organization in the public or private sector, or a social enterprise in one of 5 countries across Asia, Africa, or the Middle East to co-create youth-inclusive, gender-responsive, and market-relevant initiatives, programs, and services. Since our first international volunteers were placed in 1977, WUSC has provided over 10,000 Canadians with high-quality, rewarding, and safe volunteer opportunities that have an impact. What will your contribution be?
International Education Week, November 17-21
International Education Week at UM takes place on November 17-21. This is a global celebration of the value of international education and the connections it fosters. IEW is an opportunity to highlight UM's commitment to global learning, showcase the contributions of our international students and scholars, and engage our community in meaningful cross-cultural experiences.
The International Centre will be hosting a series of events during the week. Details can be found on our IEW webpage: umanitoba.ca/international/iewhttps://umanitoba.ca/international/iew. There we have a list of all confirmed events, and continue to add to the calendar.
Here's how the UM community can get involved:
* Promote IEW events to students, staff & faculty. * Participate in International Centre programming throughout the week. * Host your own event that highlights global learning, international student voices, or intercultural engagement. We'd be delighted to feature it as part of the official IEW program.
If your faculty would like to collaborate, promote an event, or learn more about IEW, please contact international@umanitoba.camailto:international@umanitoba.ca.
