Looking Forward in Deep Time: Palaeontology at the Manitoba Museum
March 10, 2026 223 Wallace Building 1:00 PM
Researchers at the Manitoba Museum have made some ground-breaking fossil discoveries, from giant marine reptiles to the world's biggest trilobite. With over 3 billion years worth of rock to study, we still have much left to learn about the ancient life that inhabited our province. Find out where the Manitoba Museum is heading next with Curator of Palaeontology and Geology, Dr. Joe Moysiuk. Joe will provide a brief overview of palaeontology in Manitoba, followed by discussing some specific initiatives at the museum. Highlights include new Pleistocene and Cambrian exhibits as well as field research projects focusing on exceptional fossil preservation at several Ordovician sites in northern Manitoba. Joe will also provide a glimpse of what's coming soon to the galleries and finish with an opportunity to share feedback on existing Earth History displays and potential future directions.
