VPRI URA (Undergraduate Research Award) Opportunities
Hello Riddell Faculty Students,
The VPRI Undergraduate Research Awards (URA) application period is open from January 12 to February 16, 2026. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on research, scholarly, or creative experience by working directly with a University of Manitoba researcher.
About the URA program:
* Up to 205 awards available across all disciplines * 10% of awards reserved for self-declared Indigenous students * 2 additional awards for community-based projects * $7,000 award value * Recognition on your UM Experience Record
As part of the application process, you are required to reach out to researchers whose work aligns with your interests, learn more about their research or creative activities, and identify a preferred research supervisor. You will then submit an online application describing the proposed project and why you would like to work with that researcher. Your selected supervisor will be asked to confirm their willingness to supervise you.
To learn more about the program and how to apply, please visit: https://umanitoba.ca/research/opportunities-support/undergraduate-research-a...
We encourage all eligible students with an interest in research to apply.
Best regards,

The University of Manitoba campuses and research spaces are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Dene and Inuit, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. UM recognizes that the Treaties signed on these lands are a lifelong, enduring relationship, and we are dedicated to upholding their spirit and intent. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and the present. With this understanding, we commit to supporting Indigenous excellence through active Reconciliation, meaningful change, and the creation of an environment where everyone can thrive. Our collaboration with Indigenous communities is grounded in respect and reciprocity and this guides how we move forward as an institution.
