Good morning,

At approximately 9:00 a.m. today, we received reports of Manitoba Hydro power outages affecting several buildings on the UM Fort Garry campus. Since that time, power has been fully restored in all affected areas. We are continuing to investigate the cause of the outage with Manitoba Hydro.

As a reminder, if a power outage lasts more than 30 minutes, our protocol is to evacuate the impacted buildings and send home faculty, staff, and students. Security teams are to coordinate a safe and orderly evacuation at that time. Signage on buildings are to be posted to notify individuals not to enter the building. This procedure also applies to buildings operating on backup generator power.

Please note that unit leads continue to have the discretion to allow staff to work from home at any time, following our standard operational processes regardless of whether there is a power outage.
