Tipācimowinan: Ahki sigwa keteyak / Stories: land and the long-ago ones A Presentation by Carla Kennedy (Indigenous Studies / UMIH Graduate Fellow) Thursday February 13; 2:30- 4:00PM; On Zoom.

Anishinaabeg perspectives encompass a holistic understanding of relationships between mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects of self, alongside links between human and more-than-human relations over multiple generations. In this talk, Carla Kennedy will share stories from her grandmother’s teachings on elements of Indigenous knowledge and applied sciences, stories told while checking snares for rabbits in the bush that surrounds the Qu’Appelle valley. These stories and life experiences are embedded in Carla’s research, which integrates Indigenous methods with Drone technology. Please email umih@umanitoba.ca for the Zoom link.

Sweaty Palms and Breathlessness: Preparing for Stressful Presentations A Free Skills Workshop with Dr. Sonja Boon Tuesday February 18; 2:30-4:00PM; On Zoom

This online session, co-organized by CCWOC and UMIH and led by Writer-in-Residence Dr. Sonja Boon, is designed to prepare graduate students for public events: conferences, thesis defenses, interviews, and more.
