Up-Coming Events: Online Discussion: Queer Indigenous Futurisms (UMIH + Department of Native Studies) Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM CST via Live stream on the Native Studies Facebook Page. Join Dr. Grace L. Dillon, Professor in the Indigenous Nations Studies Department in the School of Gender, Race, and Nations (Portland State University) with Sadie-Phoenix Lavoie in a discussion about Queer Indigenous Futurisms with specific references to Joshua Whitehead's recent collection Love After the End.
Public Lecture: The Politics of Mass Violence in The Middle East. (UMIH + Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in the Modern History of the Middle East and North Africa.) Thursday, February 4th, 2021. 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM CST via Live stream on the UMIH Facebook Page.
Join Dr. Laura Robson, Oliver-McCourtney Professor of History at Penn State University in a public lecture exploring how a historiographical focus on mass violence – encompassing the concepts of genocide, ethnic cleansing, forced migration, appropriation of resources, mass imprisonment, and forcible denationalization – can help explain the emergence of a dystopian politics of identity across the modern Middle East. New Opportunities:
UMIH External Grant Support:
The UMIH is seeking proposals for its External Grant Support program. An initiative to help researchers in the Faculty of Arts who are seeking external funding for conferences, workshops, colloquia, and other local research events.
This program was designed to provide opportunities for scholars to secure support, both cash and in- kind, from the UMIH in order to leverage funds from other agencies.

On-Going Opportunities: REMOTE GUEST LECTURE SUPPORT: The UMIH welcomes opportunities to spotlight teaching this term for instructors in Arts. We can provide honorarium support for a guest lecture to join your class and can assist in live streaming the event online so that it can reach a broader audience.
