Hello WISDOM Members, Please see the below call for volunteers for the International Day for Women and Girls in Science. Liza Latta (she/her) Administrative Support WISDOM: Women in Science: Development, Outreach & Mentorship Rady Faculty of Health Sciences wisdommb(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:wisdommb@umanitoba.ca> [A close-up of a logo Description automatically generated] [UM_Logo_HORZ_RGB for signature] Hi WISDOM! We are looking for volunteers!!!! We are once again hosting our International Day for Women and Girls in Science Outreach event! This event will take place February 11th (Wednesday) at two schools, Dawson Trails in Lorette and Ecole John Henderson School in Winnipeg. What is the event? Both schools will have booths set up that feature a woman in science and an associated activity. You will get your information prior to the event so you understand how your booth will function. You will first introduce the scientist and their discovery, and then explain and do the quick activity with the students. The students will be free to visit booths of their choice and the entire booth timing with a single group should be ~ 10 minutes. What time for the event? The event is on February 11th, we are expecting to be in Ecole John Henderson to set up ~8 am and then booths will begin around 9 am. Kids will circulate between 9 am to lunch, we will break at lunch time, and then a second round will begin after lunch until ~ 4pm. For Ecole John Henderson, you can sign up for morning or afternoon , or all day! For Dawson Trails, we will set up around 1130 and kids will circulate from 1230 to 3 pm! For Dawson Trails, you will be signing up for the 1230-3 pm shift. We are hoping to arrange carpooling for those in need, but this will be determined by the number of drivers that sign up to volunteer. We are looking for a ~ 40 volunteers! Reminder that volunteering for a full day will earn your CCR credit!! Volunteer sign up form! - Fill out form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=C92AT4wzTE6KFJBEaWL3uG1…> Best, WISDOM
