[Calling all Indigenous midwifery students! We have heard your feedback, and we want to offer one form of support in the short-term-monthly peer sessions guided by an Indigenous midwife. Building on recommendations from the gathering of university and apprentice Indigenous Midwifery Students held in October 2023, NCIM will host monthly student sessions between Jan-Mar 2024. An Indigenous midwife mentor will guide these discussions with students to connect with each other and share problems and solutions. NCIM will do our best to implement any feedback or recommendations from students on future sessions and supports.]
DETAILS

Do you have questions or comments? Please reach out to Ashley Lickers at ashleylickers(a)gmail.com<mailto:ashleylickers@gmail.com>

Hi Nursing & Midwifery Students!
The Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases (CVPD) and Emerging & Pandemic Infections Consortium (EPIC) have teamed up on an exciting new contest that may be of interest to you. "Explain It Like I'm 6: A Vaccine Education Contest" invites students at any Canadian university to submit a short essay, series of images, or short video explaining an aspect of vaccine science in a way that, as the title indicates, a 6-year-old would be able to understand.
The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2024 @ 6pm ET.
For full contest details, including prizes and submission form, see our contest website: https://epic.utoronto.ca/opportunities/cvpd-epic-vaccine-contest/
I have attached the education poster on this email for your review.

Good morning, Nursing Students!
We are holding a financial literacy presentation on January 29, 2024, at 5:30pm with Canada Life financial advisor Lucas Coulson. It’s no secret that financial planning is extremely important, especially for careers such as nursing where your income potential can be quite high. This presentation will highlight some of the main things nurses should be concerned with when it comes to their financial planning; such as the various types of insurance that are available, both individual, association and union coverage. We will also discuss the basics of investing and look at the different options that are available through your employers and individually. The main idea is to educate on the basics of financial planning. Getting ahead and knowing what to expect when you begin your careers can make a huge difference with your overall financial health so don’t miss out on the education or the free pizza! Room number will be provided closer to the event to ensure adequate space for all attendees. To register please click here<https://forms.office.com/r/nvXRckNN3t>.

Dear Nursing Students,
I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to notify you about the ongoing locker sale, and I wanted to inform you that only a limited number of lockers remain available. Should you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact me at sandh23(a)myumanitoba.ca. The website link is provided below for your convenience.
https://umanitobansa.weebly.com/
However, it has been brought to our attention that some lockers bought during fall term are still secured with locks, which could potentially hinder the fair allocation of lockers to other students. Therefore, we kindly request that you promptly remove any locks from your designated lockers if you have not paid for it this term. Failure to do so will necessitate that we cut the locks in the interest of fairness to all students. Our aim is to ensure that every student who purchase a locker has easy access to it.
Should you require further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. Please do not reply to this email.

Hello Nursing Students,
Happy first day of classes. I hope you are all doing well. I am sending this email to provide some information about the lockers. The locker rental term ends on January 8, 2024, that is today. If you purchased a locker in fall term, please ensure you clear out your lockers by 4pm today. This is to ensure that the lockers are available for incoming students.
I also want to let you know that locker sales for the new term will begin on January 9, 2024 around 0800 am, and not before that, and you can purchase them online through the NSA website only using either your debit or credit card. Please be sure to visit our website and take advantage of this opportunity to secure a locker for this term.
The lockers cost $15 per term and are in the nursing locker room and along the hallway in the basement floor of the Helen glass building. There are limited lockers available so if you go to the website and there are no lockers in the dropdown menu that means they have all been purchased. Here is the link to the NSA website for your convenience https://umanitobansa.weebly.com/
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact this email sandh23(a)myumanitoba.ca<mailto:sandh23@myumanitoba.ca>, do not respond to this email.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to meeting you all soon!
Warm regards,
Sofreen Sandhu (she/her)
