Dear Nursing Students, Following the email sent about the TRC Celebration, we are looking for students who are willing and available to attend and be present for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event at Bannatyne Campus on Tuesday, September 29th . We would greatly appreciate having strong student representation from the College of Nursing at this event to represent our College within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and to participate alongside students, faculty, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members. I have also attached the event agenda for your reference so you can review the schedule and sessions taking place throughout the day. We understand that transportation to Bannatyne Campus may be a consideration. Locker Sale Follow-Up & Reminder

Hello everyone, We are following up regarding the locker sale. Unfortunately, we are unable to process locker purchases via email, as this may cause confusion and make it difficult for us to properly track purchases. We have different office hours throughout the week, so please stop by the NSA office during our available office hours to purchase a locker. Important Locker Reminder: If you did not purchase a locker but currently have a lock on one, please remove your lock and belongings as soon as possible. We have received complaints regarding lockers being used without being purchased. At this time, lockers 432 and 434 have locks on them but have not been purchased. If the locks are not removed by Thursday at 12:00 PM (noon), the locks will be removed and you will need to come to the NSA office to claim any belongings inside. Hello fellow students, Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful summer break and is ready for another exciting school semester. I am excited to invite you to be part of something meaningful: the Mentorship Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. What is the Mentorship Program? Why become a mentee? (You can be in any semester!) Why become a mentor? N.U.R.D.S.S Tutor program sign up How to sign up as a mentee or mentor What is the Mentorship Program All About? The NSA Mentorship Program was created to support nursing students not only in their academic journey but in personal and professional development as well. Our goal is to foster a positive, welcoming, and empowering environment for all nursing students through mentorship. Why Become a Mentee? Whether you're in your first term or later in the program, becoming a mentee is a valuable opportunity! You'll be paired with a nursing student further along in the program who can offer guidance, share their experiences, and help you navigate nursing school. You can get Encouragement, support, and motivation throughout the semester, which will increase self-confidence and clarity on academic and career goals. It also features a Flexible time commitment; recommended ~3 hours/month, but it’s entirely up to you and your mentor! Why Become a Mentor? Mentors play an essential role in helping fellow students thrive. If you're in your 2nd year (Term 2), 3rd year, or 4th year, you’re eligible to mentor another student! You can receive an Experiential Learning Record from the College of Nursing and the University of Manitoba student body. This will strengthen your resume/CV with leadership experience; it can also help shape someone’s success in the College of Nursing. Improve your communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Gain new perspectives and connect with future nursing professionals N.U.R.D.S.S Tutor program N.U.R.D.S.S is Nursing Students Unite to Review at Designated Study Sessions) Program. This program is designed to provide additional academic support for students enrolled in NURS 2500 through weekly one-hour peer-led tutoring and review sessions aimed at strengthening student understanding and success in the course. Requirements for tutors is A minimum of B+ in NURS 2500 and the ability to commit to at least one 1-hour tutoring session per week with a student. Become a Skills Peer Mentor – Call for Applications

Please be advised that the deadline to register for the Skills Mentorship Program as a mentor has been moved to 11:59 pm on September 21, 2026. Dear Nursing Students, Welcome back! We hope that you had a nice break and are excited for the new term. As we start our new school year. We are excited to announce that the applications for the Skills Peer Mentor program for Fall 2026 are now open. The program was created in response to student feedback, recognizing a strong need for additional support in the skills lab. By pairing upper-year nursing students with students in Nursing Skills 1–4, we aim to reduce stress, boost confidence, and foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment. What is the Skills Peer Mentorship Program? The Skills Peer Mentorship Program supports students currently taking any of the Nursing Skills courses (Skills 1–4). Mentors will assist students during open labs on Mondays and during scheduled skills classes by offering guidance, answering questions, and modeling safe skills practice. The goal is to help fellow students build confidence and competence in essential nursing procedures. Why Should You Become a Skills Peer Mentor? Mentors play an important role in shaping the academic journey of their peers. As a mentor, you’ll also enjoy several benefits, including: • Experiential learning credit from the College of Nursing and the University of Manitoba student body • A strong addition to your CV/resume • The fulfillment of helping others succeed • Opportunities to enhance your communication, leadership, and teaching skills • Connections with other students and faculty across all levels of the nursing program • The chance to be a positive role model and make a meaningful difference What Will Be Expected of Me as a Mentor? As a skills mentor, you will be expected to: • Attend and support open lab sessions and designated skills classes • Observe and provide constructive feedback on technical skills and procedures • Assist and demonstrate skills when needed • Answer questions to the best of your ability and clarify information when necessary • Encourage accurate use of clinical language and terminology • Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment Who Can Apply? To be eligible, you must: • Be in 3rd year (Term 2) or 4th year of the nursing program • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 • Have no failing grades in any previous nursing skills courses • Submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (e.g., professor, CEF, or skills instructor) (A template for the recommendation letter is included in the application form) How Do I Apply? Workshop for Neurodivergent Students - Unlocking Clinical for your Neurodivergent Brain

Dear Students, The Student Counselling Centre is facilitating a workshop for students in the Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Midwifery Programs on supporting neurodivergent students through clinical. Please see the attached poster for further details. Workshop will occur on October 8th, 2026. The workshop is open to students who are formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed. Please know that students are free to email the student counseling center facilitators (see email addresses for facilitators included in the poster attached) if they wish to sign up or have any questions regarding the workshop.
