Finally, the DMP Assistant tool is a Canadian resource designed to support Data management plan creation. If RDM is completely new to you, consider attending “Introduction to Research Data Management“ before this session.
In this session, participants will:
* Explore DMP Assistant

* Publish a research plan or protocol and preprint on the Open Science Framework
Power, Profit, & Privilege: Navigating Academic Publishing
Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm (online)
Register: https://umanitoba.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5Ekdu2przsrHt3ICbL5FFISAxdEiFJJ…

Heavily influenced by Amanda Makula's "Power, Profit, & Privilege: Problematizing Scholarly Publishing," this session summarizes the scholarly publishing process and helps you to make informed, intentional decisions on where and how to publish your work. Together, we will create a publishing plan to find the best way to publish your work and a promotion plan to share your work after it has been published.
In this session, participants will:
* Summarize the scholarly publishing process
* Examine and recognize power, profit, and privilege dynamics in the publishing industry
* Create publishing and promotion plans to find the best place to publish and the best way to share your work

Caution! This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba.
On behalf of Dr. Thomas Netticadan, Team Leader of Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM),
Dear Colleagues,
I'm delighted to announce the launch of the website for the International Conference on Advances in the Health Benefits of Agri-Foods organized by the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM) International Conference on Advances in the Health Benefits of Agri-Foods<https://meetccarm.ca/>, and to also inform you that registration and abstract submission is now open. CCARM is a unique institution that aims to advance medicine through agriculture by investigating and understanding how foods and food components can promote health. We hope that the scientific sessions will provide valuable insights into this field, addressing the growing interest in using food beyond basic nutrition to achieve health benefits. It will therefore be exciting to witness the progress made in this critical area.
Please submit abstracts here<https://meetccarm.ca/abstract/> before August 16, 2024.
Please register here<https://meetccarm.ca/registration/> before September 2, 2024.
For more information, please contact Julie Schoffner at jschoffner2(a)sbrc.ca<mailto:jschoffner2@sbrc.ca>.

Subject: Jim Peebles Science and Technology Library Closing: An Update
Importance: High
Share on behalf of Ryan Schultz, Reference Librarian and Liaison Librarian for the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences
----
The following information was shared with all UM Libraries staff this morning, and I thought that you might appreciate knowing the latest details as well.
The Jim Peebles Science and Technology Library in Machray Hall on the Fort Garry Campus of the University of Manitoba will be closed on May 1, 2024. The renovation is slated to take 2.5 years.
The collection
Access to the electronic full-text collection will remain unchanged. UM Libraries is continuing to actively shift its collection from print to full-text electronic resources wherever possible.
The circulating print collection, approximately 27,000 items, will be moved to the 3rd floor of Dafoe on May 6, 2024. These are items that will be returned to the Science Library after construction in Machray Hall ends.
The remainder of the print collection, approximately 127,000 items, will be sent to an offsite storage facility. What this means is that you will be able to place a request/hold for an item through our library catalogue, Library Search, and you should be able to get the item the next business day (this happens already for print items held in the Annex storage located behind Elizabeth Dafoe Library).
The staff
Staff (including me!) will be moved to locations in Room 112 Elizabeth Dafoe Library on June 6, 2024. My desk telephone had already been replaced with a work iPhone, and my work cellphone is (204) 914-0492. Please note that I do NOT carry my work iPhone around with me after regular work hours; please leave a message on my voice-mail, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact me (all my contact info is in my email signature below) if you have any questions about the closing.
Thanks,
-Ryan.
