One question - why would you say 'industry capitalism' instead of 'industrial capitalism'?
Re the numbers who went out on strike (as Jim Naylor mentioned) I have always felt comfortable using the figure of 35,000, because this is what the strikers themselves claimed. Please see the attached archival photo of one of the parades held during the strike. You can see a sign reading 'We stand for 35,000 against 1,000'.
