Get to know New Aurora Registration: Hands-On Sessions

Hello everyone, This message is intended for academic advisors who assist students with registration. As part of the Aurora Modernization Project, registration functionality will be moving to New Aurora on November 21st. The Advising community is invited to try out the registration functionality in New Aurora at hands-on sessions. Advisors will be given access to a test environment where they can familiarize themselves with the new registration system with Aurora Modernization Project team members available to answer any questions and help troubleshoot any issues. Sent on behalf of the UM Food Bank Team! We are getting closer to the UofM Food Bank SPOOKTACULAR CANDY SALE, and we would love your support to make this event a huge success! This fun and exciting fundraiser will help us raise essential funds for the students who rely on our food bank every month. We also want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated candy to support this cause! If you would like to purchase some spooky treats, here are the details for the candy sale: Candy Sale Details: * Dates: October 31st * Location: University Centre (UMSU)* and Armes Building (SSA Lounge) *Please note: The Food Bank will now be accepting card payments at our University Centre table! * Times: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Our dedicated volunteers have been hard at work preparing spooky candy bags, which will be available for purchase during the event for as little as $3! You can also surprise your colleagues at UofM by purchasing a candy bag and arranging a fun, spooky delivery with our volunteers. Career Month 2024 - Promotion to Students

Hello UM colleagues, hope you've had a great fall term so far! As you may already know, November is Career Month! We've partnered with UMSU and the Alumni Association again this year to host a range of events. A full schedule, along with career articles and more, can be found on our UM Career Month website: https://www.umanitoba.ca/career-services/career-planning/career-month. Please visit the event listing by week and click each title to view event details and for registration. As with past years, for each event attended, students can enter the $1000 tuition draw, courtesy of the UM Alumni Association. Students attending appts at Career Services in the month of November can also enter the draw. Some key events to note are: * Career Month Kick-off: Mon, Nov 4 - Visit the Career Month booth hosted by Career Services, Alumni Association and UMSU for refreshments, activities and to learn about events * Fort Garry campus - 10 am to noon (1st floor UMSU University Centre) * Bannatyne campus - 11:30 am 1:00 pm (2nd floor Brodie Centre) * Volunteer Fair - Wed, Nov 6, 10am to 2pm (1st floor, UMSU University Centre) - In partnership with Volunteer Manitoba organizations such as HSC, Canadian Blood Services, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. I am writing to provide information about an option for International students whose first language is not English and who are facing or on academic or disciplinary suspension. These students may benefit from a referral to the English Language Centre<https://umanitoba.ca/english-language-centre> to explore enrolment in the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP)<https://umanitoba.ca/english-language-centre/intensive-academic-english>. These students should be advised to make an appointment with a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) from the International Centre before making a decision about the IAEP<https://umanitoba.ca/sites/default/files/2020-06/elc-english-flyer-web.pdf>. It is important that international students understand the impacts of transferring from a degree program to an ELC program on their study permit conditions; eligibility to work in Canada while studying at the ELC; and their eligibility to obtain a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after the eventual completion of their degree program. Next steps: unpaid fall 2024 tuition fees

Hello everyone, This message is being sent to you in collaboration with Financial Services and the Registrar’s Office. We wanted to provide you with an update on upcoming processes to handle outstanding fall term fees. As you are regularly in touch with students, please encourage them to check their UM email accounts as this information will be sent to them via email over the next few weeks. This information is for advisors only, please do not repost on social media sites. To ensure you have information at your fingertips, here are some important pieces for you: 1. The fall term fee payment deadline was October 2nd. 2. The first late fee was applied to student accounts on October 7th, in the amount of $50. 3. An email will be sent to students who have an outstanding balance, and holds will be placed on accounts by approximately October 10th. 4. On approximately October 16th, Finance will send a ‘deregistration’ notice to students who still owe. The email will advise that students must clear up all owing fees by October 31st or they will be subject to deregistration. 5. The second late fee will be placed on November 1st: * $50 on balances between $500 and $1,000 * $100 on balances over $1,000 1. De-registration from winter 2025 classes (and winter/summer spanned classes) will begin the week of November 4th. Students who are on hold or de-registered from classes due to an outstanding balance should make arrangements to pay their fees as soon as possible. Halloween Spooktacular Event - in support of the UM Food Bank

Hello, The UofM Food Bank invites you to participate in our upcoming fundraising event to support students in need of our campus food bank. With over 500 students visiting each month, we are calling on the entire UofM community to come together for this important cause. This time, we are hosting a SPOOKTACULAR CANDY SALE! We would love your help by contributing a bag (or box!) of your favorite Halloween candy. Our team of dedicated volunteers will sort and pack the candies into spooky bags to sell across campus, with all proceeds going directly to the purchase of food and hygiene products to support students who rely on the food bank. We will send our details in the following weeks on how to surprise your colleagues across the Fort Garry campus!
