Hi everyone,
An inspirational story for 2018 (at least for transportation nerds) with San Francisco introducing dynamic parking rates that rise and fall depending on demand and the time of day. While some people will automatically label this a cash grab, it actually helps to ensure drivers pay market rate, which may motivate them to choose to bus, carpool, bike or walk instead. Winnipeg has the same capability now with the new parking meters that were introduced a few years ago.

On a sidenote, this is essentially the same approach that Uber and other ride hailing companies use (called 'surge' pricing) that increases the cost of a ride when demand increases. Curious about Uber in Winnipeg? Check out Uber in Peg City http://greenactioncentre.ca/healthy-travel/uber-in-peg-city/.
cheers, Beth
